Gender Projected
Where are you from? Where do you live now? Have you ever lived anywhere else?
I am from Meriden, CT. I still live there and have never lived anywhere else.
How old are you?
22
How would you identify your gender?
Female.
What words do you feel represent your identity?
Female, heteroflexible, artsy, optimistic, hearing impaired, enthusiastic.
What do you feel is the most salient aspect of your identity? How do you feel that this part of your identity was represented and/or misrepresented in this project?
I feel I definitely come off as a cis, white female. I feel it was represented through my feminine looks and maybe even through my masculine looks since that identity is such a strong part of me, I feel it even when I’m not dressed that way.
How do your gender identity and sexuality intersect, if at all? How was that represented/misrepresented in the project?
I don’t think my sexuality was represented much throughout this project. Just my gender.
Do you have anything else to say about your experience?
It made me realize how truly fluid gender can be. And how you identify gender wise is unrelated to sexuality and personality. I want people to understand that gender is a spectrum and just because someone does not conform to what is considered socially normal, it does not say anything about who they are as a person.
